FarmToYou FAQ: For Wholesale Buyers

What is FarmToYou? A year-round online farmers' market — one place to find and buy directly from real farms and food producers across the country. Restaurants, retailers, grocers, distributors, and institutions all source here, connecting straight to the producer with no middleman. Why buy direct from farms? Because your customers demand it — and it improves your bottom line. It's easy to buy from distributors, but prices keep rising for buyers while less reaches the farms. Buying direct closes that gap: better value for you, more of the dollar to the farm, and a direct-from-the-farm story your customers actually want. There's a growing movement to buy more direct and regionally when harvests are in season — this is how you join it. Is FarmToYou a CSA or a food hub? No. We don't aggregate, warehouse, or resell product. FarmToYou connects you directly with farms and food producers themselves — like an online farmers' market — so you see exactly who you're buying from and buy on terms you set together. How much does it cost to buy here? Free to join, free to browse, free to source. No subscription, no catch. Sign up and start connecting with farms and food producers today. Sourcing made easy How do I find what I need? FarmToYou makes it easy to be farm-to-table, whether you're a restaurant, a retailer, or making value-added products. You can source in three ways — whichever suits you: - Submit an RFP — post a sourcing request (product, volume, timing) and every relevant producer sees it and can respond. - Discover farms — browse producers and reach out directly to the ones you want to work with. - Send us your list — email your ingredient list to [email protected] and we'll help you find the farms to fill it. Need help procuring, but short on time? We've got you. Our support services can help you source what you need — so even if you don't have the time or resources to hunt down farms and food producers yourself, you can still put direct-from-the-farm ingredients in front of your customers. You know buying direct helps you sell; let us help you get there. Why use FarmToYou instead of searching on my own? Because finding real farms on your own is hard. Search and you'll usually hit grocery chains, or a broad directory with no clear way to actually reach the farm. FarmToYou centralizes the search and the communication in one current, reachable marketplace — so you connect with real farms and food producers and buy direct, without the hunt. Can I plan ahead for the season? Yes. Our B2B system [Verify: confirm this is the correct current name for the tool.] lets you coordinate planning and harvest contracts with producers in real time, so you can lock in supply for the year and producers can plan their harvest. Stability for both sides. Who can I buy from? Farms and food producers of every size, nationwide. You see exactly who you're buying from and why it matters — the story behind the product comes with it. How does shipping and delivery work? You and the producer decide what works best for your arrangement — whether it's one-time or recurring. Options include the producer's own negotiated rates, arranged pickup, or parcel shipping through integrated tools. For freight, the producer can request competitive freight quotes from FarmToYou's freight partners through our help desk, typically returned within 24–48 hours. Can institutions and agencies buy here? Yes. We work with federal, state, and local agencies, nonprofits, associations, universities, and other institutional buyers. Can I talk to a real person? Yes. Reach the FarmToYou team by chat or email at [email protected], and we'll help you get started sourcing. For questions about a specific farm's products, head to that farm's page and use its "Chat with the Producer" button.

FarmToYou FAQ: For Consumers

What is FarmToYou? FarmToYou is a year-round online farmers' market — an online marketplace where independent farms and food producers each have their own shop and story. Discover local farms and buy direct from them: no unnecessary middlemen — just a direct connection between you and the people who grow your food. Why does this matter? What's the movement? There's a growing movement to buy more of our food direct from farms and food producers — and it's powerful. Imagine if more people bought even a small portion of their groceries direct from farms — it could help strengthen the local food system and keep more food dollars in local communities, and build real relationships between people and the growers behind their food. Every direct purchase keeps more of the dollar with the farm. Be part of it — help us support farms and food producers. Does it cost anything to join? No. It's free to sign up and explore. You just pay for what you buy from farms and food producers. Discover & buy Is FarmToYou a CSA or a food hub? We're a marketplace that connects you directly with farms and food producers, rather than purchasing and reselling products ourselves — you're browsing and connecting directly with them. Some offer subscription boxes or recurring deliveries; others sell one item at a time. You simply choose what you want and buy direct, based on the options each one sets up. (We also work alongside food hubs, CSAs, and farmers markets.) How do I find farms to buy from? Finding local farms online one at a time can be difficult, and often all you'll find is a grocery chain. FarmToYou brings farms and food producers together in one place, and we're adding new ones all the time. Here's how to explore: - Browse the marketplace and explore map to find producers near you and beyond - Read producer stories to learn who they are and how they grow - Discover events, experiences, and seasonal offerings - Follow the farms you love and come back for more Why buy farm-direct? Because it supports the farmers and food producers who grow and make your food, keeps more of your money with local farms, and connects you to fresher food with a real story behind it. When you buy direct, you know exactly who grew it and why it matters. What can I buy? Fresh products directly from farms and food producers, plus experiences and events some host — and subscription boxes or recurring deliveries where offered. Our selection continues to grow as more farms and food producers join FarmToYou. How do I get what I buy — pickup or delivery? It depends on the farm, and you'll see the options at checkout. Depending on the farm, you may be able to choose pickup at a farm stand or market, local delivery, or direct shipping. How do I pay, and is it secure? Payments are processed securely, and funds are sent to the farm according to its payment schedule. Simple and safe. How do I ask a farm a question? Have a question for a farmer? Go to that farm's page and click the "Chat with the Producer " button to reach them directly. For questions about FarmToYou itself, use the chat box on our site.

FarmToYou FAQ: For Producers (Farms & Sellers)

What is FarmToYou? FarmToYou is built by farmers, for farmers. We're a place where independent farms and food producers can tell their story and sell their harvest directly — without middlemen — so more of the food dollar lands in the farmer's pocket. FarmToYou is where independent farms and food producers can be found by the people and businesses who want to know where their food comes from, know their farmers, and buy direct. And it's more than a listing: the platform is your storefront and website, your customer relationships, and your back office all in one place. Here's the part that sets us apart: FarmToYou doesn't just give your farm a website — it automatically places you in a marketplace alongside other farms and food producers, so the buyers and consumers who want to buy direct can actually find you. What we don't do matters too: we don't aggregate, warehouse, ship, or take possession of your money or your goods. We give you the infrastructure to run your own direct sales and stay out of the middle. Is FarmToYou a CSA or a food hub? Think of us as an online farmers' market. Your farm's website and story sit right alongside other farms and food producers — represented together, but every farm remains fully independent. You keep control of your brand, pricing, customers, and cash, and when you sell, the money goes straight to your account on the terms you set. We'd also love to work with CSAs, food hubs, and farmers markets — giving them similar tools to source from and promote local farms and food producers. We're not here to replace how you already sell; we're here to help you be found and sell direct. What does it cost? It's free to join and free to self-manage. No setup fees and no cancellation fees. We charge a flat 3% platform fee per transaction — the same rate for direct-to-consumer sales, experiences, and wholesale. You only pay when you make a sale. Reduced rates and subscription plans can be arranged for high-volume sellers, and transaction fees are billed weekly on any balance over $5.Learn more... Being found & telling your story Will buyers actually find me? Do I need my own website? This is the heart of what FarmToYou does. A farm can build its own website and still be invisible — and the directories that do exist (often Dept. of Agriculture lists) are frequently out of date or don't actually connect you to the farm. Search for a local farm, and you'll mostly find grocery chains or broad directories with no clear way to reach anyone. FarmToYou fixes that by putting farms and food producers where buyers are already looking — in one living marketplace that's current and easy to reach, not a dead listing. And buyers come here on purpose: we give them centralized tools to find real farms and buy direct, so they shop FarmToYou with intention. Instead of every farm fighting to be found alone, we centralize the search — so a restaurant, a value-added producer, or a shopper looking to buy direct actually finds you. And no, you don't need your own website — this can be it. It's your choice: keep the site you have, or use FarmToYou as your storefront and save those costs. Either way you get a storefront, your story, events, social tools, product listings, and a direct line to buyers, all in one place. How does FarmToYou help me tell my story and build my brand? Your storefront is built to showcase who you are, not just what you sell — producer landing pages, storytelling tools, events, and social features let you share your story and build real relationships with buyers. You also benefit from FarmToYou's shared marketing: digital reach across Google, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube; producer and product features across email and social; PR and media outreach; presence at markets, expos, and events; and partnerships with universities, food-systems groups, and creators. Early adopters get priority visibility. Learn more... Money, time & support FarmToYou is not a payment gateway or intermediary holding your money for 45–60 days. Payments go directly to your own account through your Stripe or Square account (or your preferred method for wholesale invoices). You set the terms that work for you and your customers. (Stripe and Square are free to set up, with no monthly fee and standard per-transaction processing rates.) Learn more about Stripe vs. Square... Can I offer subscriptions or recurring orders? Yes. FarmToYou supports subscription options and recurring billing, so you can offer things like subscription boxes, standing wholesale orders, or regular deliveries — and turn one-time buyers into repeat buyers. Why should I trust FarmToYou? FarmToYou was built with producers, by a producer. We designed the platform by listening to early producers about what they actually needed, and that's still our mission. Our pricing reflects our commitment: we only make money when you make money. No required startup fees, no cancellation fees, and you always keep control of your brand, products, pricing, customers, and payments. Will FarmToYou save me time? That's a primary goal. The Producer Portal lets you manage products, orders, storytelling, wholesale sourcing, promotions, and communications in one place — so you spend less time juggling outreach and follow-ups and more time producing. What comes with the free Producer Portal? - Your own storefront/website and product listings - Direct-to-consumer sales and experiences - Wholesale (B2B) orders and invoicing - Subscriptions and recurring orders - Order management and communications - Events, promotions, and storytelling tools - Analytics and reporting Setup help and training are also free — with real people on the helpdesk. Can I get help setting up? I'm not tech-savvy. Yes. Basic setup support and training are free. If you'd like us to take more off your plate, our optional Services run on a flexible, points-based model — you choose a monthly retainer level (or buy a bundle of points for a one-off project), and points go toward product listings, custom shop pages, wholesale support, content, promotions, pricing and profitability analysis, and other administrative help whenever you need it. Retainers are available in three tiers ($16–$20 per point) and can be adjusted, paused, or cancelled at any time. Unused points roll forward up to 6 months. Selling, shipping & growing How does FarmToYou help me grow wholesale? FarmToYou is a place wholesale buyers come specifically to buy direct — restaurants, retailers, and institutions use our centralized tools to find real farms and food producers. They can submit sourcing requests ("RFPs"), which relevant producers respond to directly, reach you through the "contact the producer" option on your page, or send us an ingredient list so we can connect them with farms and food producers like yours. Our B2B system also lets buyers coordinate planning and harvest contracts in real time — bringing planning stability to both sides. How does shipping work? You've got flexibility. You can: - Use your own negotiated rates if you already have them. - Arrange pickup — for example, at a farmers market or your farmstand. - Use Shippo for parcel shipping, integrated automatically and available to every producer anytime. Shippo is a multi-carrier shipping platform (similar to Shopify Shipping, ShipStation, Pirate Ship, or EasyPost). You choose which carriers and shipping options you want to offer; at checkout, your customer picks the option they prefer from the ones you've selected. For wholesale freight, just submit an inquiry through our help desk chat and FarmToYou will obtain competitive freight quotes for you within 24–48 hours. You and the buyer can work out which arrangement works best — one-time, recurring, or otherwise. Do I have to stop using my existing sales channels? No — that's your choice. Keep your existing clients and channels and add FarmToYou to streamline communication and reach new buyers. Because FarmToYou can act as your website, many farms find they can consolidate here and save on the cost of running a separate site. How big does my operation need to be? Any size. From very small producers to large operations, everyone is welcome. And if demand outpaces your supply, we offer guidance to help you scale. What if I don't see something I need in my operation? Reach out. Maybe it's a product category, maybe it's a feature or a way of selling you rely on — if there's something in your current operation you don't see obviously in FarmToYou, let us know. We're here to listen and we're committed to making improvements for our farms and food producers. What region does FarmToYou serve? FarmToYou is a national platform serving farms, food producers, and buyers across the United States. Can I talk to a real person? Yes. Use the chat box in the lower-right corner of the FarmToYou website if you have any questions about the platform, and we can set up a call when it helps.

Resizing or Editing Images & Sizes

🖼️ How to Resize an Image for Banners, Thumbnails, and More Sometimes you upload an image for a banner or post—and it doesn’t look right. Maybe it’s not loading , or it shows up cropped oddly or stretched. That’s usually caused by one of two issues: - The file type isn’t supported or too large. - The image size or aspect ratio doesn’t match what the platform expects. Here’s how to fix both using simple Microsoft tools. Step 1: Choosing your Image - If you have an image you want to use, if you notice are trying to use the image it is the wrong file type, size, or just doesn't look right move on to Step 2. - If you only need part of an image or want to grab something from your screen the Snipping Tool is perfect for quickly creating a new, reshaped image, or even capturing the exact part you need for a banner or icon. Expand below for how to use: Open the Snipping Tool (search “Snipping Tool” in your Start Menu). - Click New , then drag your mouse to select the part of the screen you want to capture. - Then select Edit with Paint 🎨 button to finish editing, see Step 2. Step 2: Edit or Resize in Microsoft Paint 🎨 You can open an image in Paint in a few ways: - Snipping Tool →Edit in Paint - Right-click on your image→ Open With → Paint - Or open Paint, then File → Open → [select your image] Once open, you can resize or crop the image to make it fit perfectly. Before getting started, we recommend adding Gridlines to help you resize or crop your image. This adds a visual aid and are only visible in Paint, they do not save on image. Note size details in the bottom. This helps you monitor the ratios and size of your image as you make the adjustments you need or desire. Resizing - Go to Home → Resize - Choose to resize by Percentage or Pixels - Check Maintain aspect ratio to keep proportions balanced (use this for banners, logos, or photos). - Uncheck it only if you intentionally need to stretch or flatten the image (rarely needed). Tip: If your banner requires, for example, 1200x400 pixels , type those values directly into the pixel box(es) - as you change one the other will auto adjust. Cropping This is great for trimming edges or fine-tuning how your image fits within a specific banner or space with a size requirement. - Select the part of the image you want to start by hovering over the small square until you see the arrows. These squares are found in the middle of the sides and on each corner. - Click and Drag for desired look and size. Tip: Monitor the size at the bottom as you make adjustments. And you can always click "Undo" (Ctrl+Z) or Click and Drag back out. 📁 Understanding File Types Before clicking Save As to save your photo - you'll want to choose the right format, which matters just as much as the size. Here’s a quick guide: Use Case| Best Format| Why ---|---|--- Photographs| JPEG (.jpg)| Uses lossy compression to shrink file size while keeping good quality. Ideal for photos or realistic images with gradients. Graphics, illustrations, transparent images| PNG (.png)| Uses lossless compression, keeping sharp edges and text clear. Perfect for banners, buttons, and screenshots. Logos, icons, scalable designs| SVG (.svg)| Vector-based format that can be resized infinitely without losing quality. Best for web logos or app icons. 🧩 Quick Tips ✅ Always keep an original copy of your image before resizing. ✅ Match the aspect ratio of your banner space (e.g., wide for website headers, square for profile images). ✅ Use PNG if you need transparent backgrounds (like logos). ✅ Reduce large photos to under 2 MB for faster loading.
